Fresno State softball suffered a devastating 10-inning loss against the Cal Poly Mustangs Monday. In the extra-inning extravaganza, the Bulldogs lost control of the game late and took the 4-3 loss.

The spring game marked the final time the public will see the revamped Bulldog football program before fall. Sunday’s annual football spring game was highlighted by an X-factor that has torched Fresno State in recent years – big plays.

Fresno State bounced back after losing for the first time in six games to split the rain-shortened two-game series with the UC Riverside Highlanders this weekend.

The Fresno State football team took the field for its 12th practice Tuesday afternoon, in preparation for the annual spring game at noon Sunday. New head coach Tim DeRuyter said the team has been improving but still has a lot of work to do before Sunday.

The Fresno State women’s basketball team will play Georgetown in the first round the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs (28-5) are seeded No. 12 in the Des Moines Regional and will play the No. 5 Hoyas (22-8), Sunday at 9:20 a.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

In the final game of the 2012 WAC Basketball Tournament, the Bulldogs defeated conference rival Louisiana Tech 89-61, making them WAC Champions and sending them to the NCAA tournament for the fifth consecutive year.
