The One-Finger Salute

Thumbs up to us. The Collegian won 19 awards from the CCMA this weekend, including first-place awards in Sports-Page Design, Headlines, Infographic, Sports Action Photography, Breaking News Story and Overall Design. Members of The Collegian’s print and online staffs traveled to San Francisco this weekend to attend seminars and pick up our awards. Our feet are tired.

Collegian wins 19 awards

The Collegian took home 19 California College Media Association awards this weekend, including first place in Best Overall Design. The Collegian also won five additional first place student journalism awards at the presentation on March 1 in San Francisco, as a part of the annual Associated Collegiate Press National College Newspaper Convention. The competition had more than 900 entries in more than 75 editorial, photo, design and advertising categories. Students from 22 California university publications were presented with more than 300 awards.

Bulldogs beat No. 21 team in tourney

Jenna Cervantez went 1 for 3 with a run scored in yesterday’s game against UNLV in the Palms Springs Classic in Cathedral City. The Bulldogs will face Ohio State and Texas today.
The Bulldogs shut out No. 21 UNLV 2-0 led by freshman pitcher Morgan Melloh.
