Casey at the bat

Casey McGehee was in a very familiar position this week — playing the infield in Fresno. But he wasn’t playing his customary spot of third base at Pete Beiden Field that he occupied for three years while in college. The former Fresno State Diamond ‘Dog was playing third base for the Iowa Cubs at Chukchanasi Park in downtown Fresno against the Fresno Grizzlies. (more...)

The Fresno State baseball team is finally starting to look like the preseason top 25 club everyone thought they would be. After poor offensive showings in their first two conference losses against Hawaii, the Bulldogs have won eight of their last nine games, including taking three out of four games from conference leader Nevada this past weekend and a 7-6 upset over No. 10 Long Beach State last night. Cost-cutting commuters

With gas prices at an all-time high, driving to school is more expensive than ever. For members of the Fresno State community who live near or far from campus, the Commuter Services Program provides alternative types of transportation. The University Police Department operates the Commuter Services Program. Public Information Officer Amy Armstrong said that there are currently around 1,000 students involved in Commuter Services. Saving at the pump

At Fresno State, where a majority of the students commute to school, finding the best bargain on fuel is often essential for maintaining a balanced budget. Students are used to finding ways to combat escalating gas prices. Junior Julio Gutierrez and his two friends have developed a system that helps them save money on gasoline. (more...)

Diamond Dogs split opening series

Freshman outfielder Trent Soares makes a sliding catch during the 2008 season opener Friday night at Pete Beiden Field against the UC Davis Aggies. The Bulldogs played on a damp field and through rainy conditions the entire weekend.
