The 2011 version of the Fresno State Bulldogs is unlike any other Pat Hill-coached team in that it finished the season with a 4-9 record and missed a bowl game for just the fourth time under the coach’s direction.
The final game of the 2011 season paralleled how the entire year has gone for Fresno State – an opportunity within reach only to be pulled away late in the contest.
For the past 15 years, Pat Hill has been the face of Fresno State football, leading the school to multiple bowl appearances and implementing his “Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere” mantra along the way, never shying away from squaring off against some of the nation’s premier schools. But following Saturday’s season-finale loss to San Diego State, Hill has been fired by Fresno State after the ‘Dogs didn’t meet expectations in the past couple years.
Fresno State played the first game of it’s current three-game Pac-12 stretch. The Bulldogs held the Utes to 35 percent shooting in the game and in all their wins they have allowed on 52 pts per game.
Fresno State’s Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh announced Sunday that Pat Hill will not be retained as head football coach.
