As the NCAA Tournament’s first game tips off at 9:20 a.m. tomorrow, there still is time to finalize your bracket. I’m no expert, but is there such a thing as an expert? Every
ESPN “expert” is just making their best guess in reality.

The Fresno State football program has undergone major surgery in the off-season.

A National Championship sign was unveiled. A College World Series (CWS) 
flag was raised. New signs appeared under the press box. Six 2008 CWS heroes threw out ceremonial first pitches, and for the first time in 15 years, a maximum capacity crowd of 3,825 fans came out to support the Fresno State baseball team in its season opener.


It has been a tough month to say the least for the men’s basketball team, but Monday night the Bulldogs gave the fans at the Save Mart Center something to cheer about. They snapped a three-game conference losing streak with a win over Boise State, 88-82, to
improve their record to 10-14, 2-7 in the WAC.

There are several sports at Fresno State dealing with coaches 
leaving, and the women’s soccer team is one program that falls under 
that category. However, one thing other sports programs can’t relate 
to, is what the soccer team is going through.

Over the course of winter break, Fresno State’s women’s soccer coach Steve Springthorpe was offered a head coaching position at North Carolina State of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

After being chosen as the preseason Western Athletic Conference (WAC) favorites, the football team finds itself heading into the final two games of the season behind five other teams in the conference.

After winning the WAC title last weekend, the soccer team’s run at an NCAA title is over. The Bulldogs’ stay was cut short Friday after No. 1 seed in the tournament (No. 2 in the nation) UCLA beat the `Dogs 5-0.

Last year the women’s basketball team won the regular season WAC title, WAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program’s 43-year history.
