THE SEMESTER HAS begun and along with it, another run of The Collegian.

The end of the semester is already here and the thoughts of some students’ minds are already gearing towards summer.

Her throat keeps getting tighter and she can’t stop wheezing.

Foot-long corn dogs, warm crunchy kettle corn and sweet funnel cakes in hand or on Styrofoam trays were carried and consumed by hundreds of people this past weekend.

Someone else other than Fresno State students struck out at the bowling alley located on the bottom floor of University Student Union (USU) yesterday afternoon.

The smell of golden popcorn kernels smothered in thick butter encompasses a large room barely lit by a huge screen. This same screen is projecting a film to dozens of eyes eager for the story that is about to unfold.

Two lanes. Only two lanes of road existed for state Highway 99 and lined all along its stretch were dozens of farm markets. Markets providing oranges, grapes, berries and more of what some claim is the world’s best produce.

Fresno State alumnus Brad Lewis said in a phone interview the night before the telecast of the Oscars that “I’m crossing my fingers in hopes of winning my first-ever Academy Award.”

Having a common name in the film industry can be a problem at times.

For Fresno State alumnus Brad Lewis this problem most often comes to light when the media at large are interviewing him and credit him with work he’s never done.
