Brandstater gets call for start Friday

Fresno State football fans were hardly holding their breath over the decision, but head coach Pat Hill finally announced Tom Brandstater as the starter for game one on Friday.

Hill stated that although the competition between Brandstater and teammate Sean Norton came down to a matter of knowing the system and how well Hill thinks they can execute the gameplan.

“[Brandstater] just needs to go out and play within the gameplan,” Hill said “Just do what he does at practice. We feel very comfortable that he’ll do that.”

Also emphasized at Hill’s weekly press conference Monday was the fact that Norton’s height had nothing to do with the decision to start Brandstater.

Either way, Hill could not be more satisfied about the situation behind center.

“We’ve got two quarterbacks who can execute the same plan,” Hill said. “That makes it a great situation.”
