Fresno State golfer Jason Anthony shot a five-under par round on Sunday at Arizona’s National Invitational Tournament, giving him a tie for second place overall.

Anthony’s score led the pack of Fresno State golfers and positioned the Bulldogs to enter Monday’s second round in eighth place in a field of 15 squads.

Anthony’s round included seven birdies and two bogeys, putting him two strokes behind the first-place UCLA golfer.

Among the other Bulldogs, Brian Kelley is tied for 17th place after opening his round with four consecutive birdies.

Ryan McDonald and Jonny Rosa both shot four-over-par rounds and are tied for 71st place.

The UCLA golf team currently leads the tournament, followed by Arizona State in second.
