The Fresno State baseball team’s first game in the Pepsi-Johnny Quik Classic resulted in a victory, Monday.
Led by senior right-hander Doug Fister, who finished the night allowing only one hit in seven innings, guided the Bulldogs to a 7-3 victory over Miami (OH).
Fister allowed three runs on the evening, all of them unearned. His nine strikeouts put him on top of the WAC leaderboard in strikeouts so far this season.
Earlier in the day, the Red Hawks knocked off Gonzaga in the first game of their double-header.
Tuesday’s action, with the exception of Fresno State’s 7 p.m. finale, was postponed due to persistent rain in the Valley. Postponed games have not been rescheduled as of yet, due to the possibility of further weather problems.
• Check The Collegian Friday for updates on the Bulldogs’ progress in the tournament.
