No. 25 softball wins Aztec finale 6-1

The No. 25 ranked Bulldogs softball team defeated Loyola Marymount 6-1 on Sunday in their final game at the Aztec Classic in San Diego.
With the win, Fresno State improves to an 11-9 record.
Loyola scored first in the game’s opening inning with a single that scored a runner from second, but the Bulldogs came back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs with the bases loaded.
Fresno State increased its lead in the fourth when junior Nichole Willis was walked, bringing in a run.
The Bulldogs scored two more in the fifth with a series of walks, a bunt and an RBI single.
Freshman right-handed pitcher Robin Mackin gave up only three hits, one walk and one run in the course of the game while striking-out nine.
The Bulldog women’s softball squad will next take on St. Francis in the first of ten consecutive games at Bulldog Diamond.
Mackin also threw her first no-hitter of the season in Saturday’s 11-0 win over San Diego State.
