On-campus competition Saturday

Fresno State is set to host the 2005 Design Engineering Competition Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in McLane Hall room 121.

More than 200 engineering students from Fresno State, Fresno City College, Reedley College and College of the Sequoias at Visalia are expected to take part.

The competition began nine years ago.

This year’s event will have teams of students design systems that must transport themselves to a target area while carrying the most weight possible. All the energy used will come from a spring in a mousetrap.

The competition is free and open to the public.
