Health Center fee increase passes
By JENNA NIELSEN
The student health referendum passed Thursday with a vote of 393 to 96.
Voting took place Wednesday and Thursday and students either voted yes,
to approve a $20 increase in the health services fee, or no, to oppose
it.
The increase will take effect in the fall 2005 semester and it will bring
the fee from $65 to $85 per semester. The fee will then increase $2 a
semester until fall 2009.
The referendum was initiated because the health center had been experiencing
rising costs but wasn’t receiving any additional revenue.
According to University Health and Psychological Services, if the referendum
did not pass, student services would have to be reduced.
