Fresno State’s bats were silenced by Cal State-Fullerton pitching
all weekend.
The Bulldogs lost both of their weekend games against the No. 3 Titans,
the defending national champions, to drop to 1-7 on the season.
The Bulldogs were held hitless by Fullerton’s Ryan Schreppel until
freshman third baseman Beau Mills got a hit in the seventh. That was the
Bulldogs’ only hit of Sunday’s 9-0 loss.
On Saturday, Fullerton’s Ricky Romero had a similar performance,
holding the Bulldogs hitless until redshirt freshman Brian Lapin doubled
in the eighth. The Bulldogs lost 12-1 Saturday.
The third game of the series wasn’t played because of rain on Friday
and early Saturday.
Fresno State hosts UC-Santa Barbara in a three-game series at Beiden Field
beginning Friday.
