My boyfriend and I are going through a rough patch in our relationship. He’s been having trouble getting in the mood – or staying in the mood. He told me that he’s had problems like this before, but I’m wondering if there are any natural herbs or supplements that he can take to get him back in the game?

Regular exercise will help improve his overall health, but it will also improve blood flow (important in treating ED) and lower blood pressure.

Stress may be a major contributor to the problem. It’s difficult to get in the mood when you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stressed about things that are going on in your life. Your boyfriend will benefit from taking steps to reduce the stress in his life. Exercise is a great outlet for stress, or maybe he has a hobby that he can spend more time on to relax and unwind when he’s feeling overwhelmed.

He could also try meditating or yoga to help combat stress.

It’s important for him to continue engaging in sexual activity. Even if the activity only leads to a partial erection, this can be a positive outcome for anyone with ED. This increased blood flow to the penis may help stimulate and improve overall function.

Many men also swear by acupuncture, although the studies are mixed. One study from 1999 found that acupuncture improved the quality of erections in 39% of male participants. In a 2003 study, 21% of ED patients who received acupuncture experienced improved erections. The risks are low with acupuncture, so it’s worth trying.

I would urge your boyfriend to talk to his doctor about his situation. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Doctors deal with this type of scenario all of the time. His doctor may provide some advice or prescribe a treatment that can give him the relief he wants.
