Mathews goes No. 12 to Chargers
Ryan Mathews, former Fresno State starting running back, opted out of his senior year at Fresno State to take a chance in the NFL draft and was announced as the No. 12 pick at the NFL Draft to the San Diego Chargers.
This past Saturday Mathews made an appearance at the first scrimmage of the spring football season. On a nice 80 degree day, Mathews wore shorts, a cut-off shirt, sunglasses and a San Diego Chargers hat.
Mathews is the fifth Bulldog in Fresno State history to be picked in the first round of the draft and third in the last eight years. As a Bulldog, Mathews was the NCAA running back of the 2009 season with more than 1800 yards and 19 touchdowns.
