California State University, Fresno

Spring registration begins Nov. 2

The breakdown of registration appointments by class level (units completed) is as follows:

  • Monday, November 2: Priority Groups and Post-Baccalaureate Students
  • Tuesday, November 3: Seniors
  • Wednesday, November 4: Juniors
  • Thursday, November 5: Sophomores
  • Friday, November 6: Freshmen and Returning students

Registration assistance and two computers are available in the lobby of Admissions and Records in the Joyal Administration Building. Please refer students to our office for assistance.

The deadline to pay registration/tuition fees for students who participate in Early/Priority Registration is Friday, December 2, 2009.

Enrollment limits will be set for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students according to the excess units policy. Therefore, all undergraduate students will be limited to enroll in 18 units unless they have the following overall GPA which will allow enrollment by the following breakdown:

2.50 – 2.99 = 19 units
3.00 – 4.00 = 22 units

Undergraduate students pursuing a credential will be limited to 18 units regardless of their GPA. Undergraduate/Credential/UGRD2 students wanting to enroll beyond their enrollment limit must fill out an Excess Units form and receive approval from the department of their major. After approval is granted, the form must be turned into the Admissions and Records service windows by the end of the second week of instruction.

Post-baccalaureate students will have their enrollment limit set based on their academic program:

  • GRAD (Masters Program) = 16 units
  • DOCT (Doctoral Program) = 16 units
  • CRED (Credential Program) = 18 units
  • CERT (Certificate Program) = 16 units
  • PBAC (Undeclared Program) = 16 units
  • UGRD2 (pursuing a second undergraduate degree) = based on GPA

Graduate/Doctoral/Advanced Certificate students wanting to enroll in excess units must seek approval on an Academic Overload petition obtained from the Division of Graduate Studies.

I don’t think that it’s fair that there is a priority registration for students the day before seniors get to register. There shouldn’t a group of people who get to register before the whole school, including seniors, unless they are Post-Baccalaureate Students. I believe that the registrations days should just go in order of how many units you have taken and what grade level you are in and they shouldn’t let others sign up before everyone else. It should be based on grade level alone in my opinion.
