As the only 4-year state university between Stanislaus State and CSU Bakersfield, Fresno State has an obligation to provide opportunities to students between Madera and Visalia, students who cannot afford tuition at any other school, much less the cost of moving or living outside their parents' spare bedroom. For purely economic factors, smart local people must take precedence over L.A or Bay Area geniuses. (Criterion is the singluar. Criteria is the plural.)
