University High students cause elevator mishap
Approximately 10 University High School students were stuck in an elevator in the Henry Madden Library for 45 minutes on Tuesday afternoon, University Police officials said.
According to Amy Armstrong, the Public Information Officer for the University Police Department, the elevator stopped functioning correctly due to improper usage by the students.
“When they were in the elevator, they all jumped, which set off the emergency mode in the elevator,” Armstrong said in a phone interview to The Collegian.
The automatic shutdown of the elevators is in place in case of emergencies, such as earthquakes or fires, Armstrong said.
According to Armstrong, dispatchers received a call from the emergency phone located inside the elevator at 4:12 p.m. The elevator remained inoperable until a technician came to repair and reset the elevator.
The Principal of University High School was informed of the students’ actions, Armstrong said.
“It’s not something that’s appropriate to do,” Armstrong said.

And if your really going to waste your time bashing UHS then why don’t you just go to the front of UHS and make your views better known. Or maybe your just too scared. I don’t think you have the guts to tell it to their faces. And telling it to one of them or just a small group of them doesn’t get your message out. Go tell it to the school that you want them out. Bring it up to the board. If that’s what you really believe then maybe you should do something about it.

Brooke is not saying UHS is the best school out there, she never said anything about being an elitist u stupid commie, go back and learn ur history of the school before u make any judgments. The school has had a lot of trouble to get started and get to were it is today. The school pays for all of the classes that they students take at State, FYI. So state is making money off of them. It took at least 6 years for the school to finally get a place to build a decent building for themselves, and during those 6 years, stupid student’s like u guys bashed them and made them restart everything they had to do.
90% of the time, u guys don’t even know that there is a UHS student in ur class, i can guarantee that. Oh by the way, UHS Freshman and Sophomores r not supposed to b in the Union, if u ever notice at noon (if for some stupid reason ur there at that time) all the UHS kids r sitting around their school, not in the union. They space their classes so that they have as few UHS students doing nothing or being in the union.
And Frank, yes if someone goes to a clovis unified or fresno unified district school, they r more likely to get into a fight, b involved, or be a victim of one. I have two brothers that work for both fresno unified and clovis unified and i know all of the stories u don’t know. Did u hear about the kid that got stabbed 5 times in the chest with a pencil from FUSD? or maybe the guy that went clinically insane at CW trashing a room and sending 2 people to the hospital, both of which happened in the last year that no one knew about?
I’m not saying UHS is perfect, cause obviously the teacher that got arrested speaks for itself, but u should think for once, maybe that school is a haven for all the students that r outcasted and need something they can look forward to, instead of being scared that they may get beat up. But now they have to worry about people like u guys going to them and beating the crap out of them now.
Actually, I don’t think ur even man enough to go up to any of them and tell them how u feel about their school cause u think u will be beaten up by all those scrawny little kids and they 20 lbs backpacks full of books.

I think many are missing the point. The point is, is that UHS students are continuing to do stupid stuff that make them look really bad to everyone else. Stuff like this happens every single year. And its not only the students, as we have seen with the whole situation that happened last January.
Brooke and Mark, are you really trying to say that we should cut them a break for what these kids do? That even though they cause elevator mishaps, release pepper spray in public areas, run around like idiots through the student union, and inconvenience Fresno State students they should be allowed to use Fresno State public facilities?
