Shoe Thrower released early from Iraqi Prison

The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at then-President George W. Bush, was released from prison Tuesday.

Zaidi’s 3-year sentence was shortened and he was released due to having no previous criminal record.

Zaidi told a news conference that Iraqi guards tortured him with whippings and electric shocks during his nine-month detention. He was missing at least one front tooth.

In regards to the shoes, one wealthy Saudi offered millions for them, Arab women have written love letters to Zaidi and a giant shoe statue was erected in Saddam Hussein’s hometown before the Iraqi government had it removed.
