I wonder if the adds don't have the opposite effect on us that they aim too. Like you said, when you saw them, your first reaction was anger. It seems almost counter-productive to load something so full of adds that it only makes the reader mad. I love superheroes too. I was hooked ever since I watched "The Shadow" as a little kid.
