Mendonca stands alone

Junior third baseman Tom Mendonca made history over the weekend in Ruston, La., by becoming Fresno State’s all-time home run leader with 45 career roundtrippers.

Mendonca has 16 home runs this season and is halfway towards Lance Shebelut’s single-season mark of 32 home runs back in 1988.

Mendonca surpassed former Bulldog, All-American catcher Giuseppe Chiaramonte, who set the mark in 1997. With at least 17 games remaining, Mendonca could set the bar high for years to come.
