First, I want to make it clear that I have no problems with homosexuality, or cats for that matter. What bothers me the most is that the Collegian is being used in a very selfish and irresponsible manner, as evidenced by this article. The Collegian has the capacity to reach 22,000+ students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members, and thus the power of the newspaper should be taken seriosuly. Sarah Peterson has the opportunity to write about things that really matter: the budget, parking, the lack of campus community, Dr. Welty's pay increase, the lack of healthy food on-campus, etc. I am aware that Ms. Peterson intended to lighten things up, but I really wish she would take her job more seriously. I don't care about her cats, and I am almost certain that a lot of students feel the same. This article was very dissapointing, for several reasons.
