Jonathan McCoy Malcolm, a music instructor at University High School on the Fresno State campus, was dismissed this evening. Malcolm was arrested Wednesday and charged with distributing or displaying lewd material to a minor and annoying or molesting children under 18.

The University High board convened an emergency meeting Friday at 5 p.m. to determine a plan of action. The board dismissed Malcolm from his position.

Parents had been notified of the incident by email Thursday.

not exaclty ‘Fresno State’ news. Tell me how this news impacts campus students who are over 18. I’m still concerned over UHS students receiving ID cards that mimic the ones held by tuition paying university students—-where’s my story on that?

A possible sexual predator on campus is something most people want to know about. In addition, there are many “campus students who are over 18″ who have small children. Some of those children are also on campus in different day care facilities. I would even bet that some students have younger siblings who attend UHS, but that is merely speculation.

In other words, since UHS is actually part of Fresno State, that makes it Fresno State news. That news, however, will have different impact on different people.
