The Fresno State bood and bone marrow registry drive, dedicated to Fresno State Student Rose Hennig, is going on Wednesday Nov. 19 and Thursday Nov. 20.

You can participate on those days from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Blood donation and bone marrow registration is taking place on the top floor of the University Student Union.

Other mobile locations for blood donation are at the Student Union (west side), Education Building, Maple Mall and the Peters Business Building.

Everyone is encouraged to give blood and/or register for the National Marrow Donor Registry in honor of Hennig and patients in Valley hospitals just like her.

Hennig, a 20-year-old sophomore and member of the equestrian team, was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma, went through treatments and then relapsed. Currently, she is in the process identifying a bone marrow donor, which is her only hope for a healthy life. She is just one example of who benefits when you donate.

To donate blood you can visit any one of the locations listed above. The marrow drive will occur only at the Student Union. The normal $52 fee to become a part of the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry will be waived during this event.

Marrow donors will be considered for all patients searching the National Registry. All that is required is two quick swabs of your cheek. This is a very fast and completely painless procedure. Photo ID and Social Security Number are required at donor registration.
