On November 4th, California voters are faced with a great deal of responsibility, and that responsibility is to our daughters, sisters, and peers. If passed, Proposition 4 will amend the California Constitution to require parental notification before a minor may end a pregnancy.

On paper this sounds good because, rightfully, parents want to be involved in their teens’ lives — and many are, but it is our responsibility to protect the teens that cannot go to their parents for whatever reason.

Some teens live in dangerous homes and will take matters into their own hands if they are scared and desperate.

The bottom line is that this proposition puts vulnerable teens at risk and the California Nurses, Teachers, Medical and School Counselor Associations all agree and urge us to vote no on Proposition 4 to keep teens safe.
