The One-Finger Salute
Thumbs up to the Fresno State football team for, on three levels, moving up three spots in AP’s poll of the top 25 college football teams, for earning their first victory in the Rose Bowl and for giving fans another exciting football game.
Thumbs up to cucumber water. Several members of The Collegian’s editorial staff were reacquainted with this fine beverage over the weekend, much to their satisfaction. Some of the things we love about cucumber water are that it has a pleasant scent and is delicious. One editor says — and we all agree — that in two words, the drink is “beyond refreshing.”
Thumbs down to the staff working at TGI Friday’s on Sept. 26 between the hours of 8 pm and 11 pm. A number of The Collegian’s editorial staff attended the restaurant during these specified hours on this specified date, and we can assure you that despite the name of their employer, the people working during this time were not at all happy that it was Friday. Or that we were there.
A big big big big big thumbs up to the Fresno Fair. The fair begins this week on Oct. 1 and runs until Oct. 13. meaning that we all have two weeks to get sick from eating too much funnel cake and riding the Scrambler.
“The One-Finger Salute” is culled each week from discussions in The Collegian newsroom.
