‘Stop the Hate’ week begins Oct. 1

“Stop the Hate Week, Stop the Violence – Building a Culture of Peace” will observed Oct. 1-4 at
California State University, Fresno and other locations with speakers, a film, candlelight vigil, music and a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

The first event is at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Wesley United Methodist Church, located on 1343 E. Barstow Ave. A discussion of “Holistic Medicine: From Wellness to Wholeness” will be presented by Dr. Prashant Kakode, director of the Center for Integral Health in Cambridge, England.

On Oct. 2, the International Day of Non-Violence will feature the film “Mahatma” at 7:30 p.m., followed by a candlelight vigil at the Free Speech Area near the Peace Garden at Fresno State. Attendees are asked to
bring candles.

The week’s activities will conclude Oct. 4 with activities from 10 a.m. to noon at the Free Speech area. There will be music, an exhibition, “From Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace – Transforming the Human Spirit” and the traditional garlanding of the Gandhi statue in the Peace Garden. Attendees are asked to bring flowers.
