California State University, Fresno

Wait! Before graduation, you MUST do this …

To help celebrate the University Student Union’s 40th birthday this year, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) has put together a list of the top 40 things you must do in and around campus before you graduate.

The University Student Union’s birthday celebration will be in November and the
top 40 list was made to celebrate it.

Tara Powers, Director of University Affairs said the list was generated as an alternative to drinking alcohol. All of the activities on and around campus are non-drinking related to promote fun without having to drink.

“This technique has been used on other campuses to help promote safer alternatives to drinking, Powers said. “We wanted to combine that concept with a way to engage students at Fresno State and the surrounding community.”

Students have until May 8, 2009 to finish the list and receive prizes. For those who complete at least 20 of the listed activities, they will win four tickets to a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game and two free games of bowling in the bowling alley located in the USU Pavillion.

Students will also be entered for a chance to win a bigger prize. The prize pool includes three First Pitch Packages. The winners of this will receive a Fresno Grizzlies suite for them and 13 of their friends and have the priviledge of throwing the first pitch of the game.

The University Student Union worked with the Wellness Services who helped identify fun activities as alternatives to drinking.

The “Top 40” list includes:

• Go whitewater rafting down the Kings River.

• Get involved with intramural sports.

• Participate in celebration throughout the week and many more.
