Softball
The Fresno State softball team will face off against New Mexico State at Honolulu, Hawaii today at 4:30 p.m.
The game is part of the 2008 WAC Softball Tournament being hosted by Hawaii.
The Bulldogs earned a first round meeting with No. 5 seed New Mexico State after beating Hawaii 14-3 and finishing the WAC Tournament last year.
The game will take place at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Fresno State is trying to defend its 2007 WAC Tournament title and earning the No. 2 seed. They won previously in 1999.
No. 1 seed Nevada won the 2006 tournament.
This is the sixth WAC softball tournament and the first one to be hosted by the No. 3 seed University of Hawaii softball team.
Louisiana Tech will be opening the tournament. The winning team will attend the NCAA Tournament.
Baseball
Fresno State senior left fielder Steve Susdorf was named WAC Hitter of the Week last week.
He hit .381 (8-for-21) with nine RBI, four home runs, six scored runs, two stolen bases, and a pair of walks in last weekend’s series against New Mexico State, which the Bulldogs split with the Aggies 2-2.
