Athletics goes green

Last semester, a Fresno State public relations class teamed up with PG&E and Bulldog Sports Properties to encourage students and fans to go green.

The campaign, “Caught Green Handed—Green Bulldogs Get Rewarded,” distributed 40,000 light bulbs to fans at football and basketball games.

PG&E provided $85,000 dollars worth of energy efficient light bulbs for the cause.

It was the most light bulbs PG&E has given out at any one time.

A team of 19 public relations students passed out the light bulbs to fans as the entered and left the school parking lots at the Nov. 3 football game against Utah.

They continued their quest to help Fresno State Go Green at the men’s basketball game against Western Washington on Nov. 4, and the women’s basketball game against Melbourne Roos the same afternoon.

All three teams won their games during the Go Green campaign.

The efforts were part of Fresno State’s encouragement for the campus, students and community to begin living green lifestyles.
