Kids Day sales goal shattered by volunteers

With only eight of 30 sites counted as of press time, Kids Day volunteers had raised $400,000 in donations for Children’s Hospital Central California, already surpassing this year’s sales goal of $375,000, said Micheline Golden, spokeperson for the hospital. All eight sites, including Fresno State, saw increased sales from last year. Groups from Fresno State arrived early to reserve first-come-first-serve sales spots. Pre-pharmacy club member Samia Shiekh (right) sold Kids Day newspapers from 4:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. “It’s a new experience, but it’s actually a lot of fun,” Shiekh said.
