Men’s tennis wins seventh straight at home

The Fresno State men’s tennis team beat UNLV 6-1 on Saturday in its seventh home win of the season.

In doubles play at the No. 1 spot, Rudolf Siwy and Mirko Zapletal defeated Elliot Wronski and Wes Burrows 8-6.

Also in doubles, Denny Fafek and Tejesvi Veerepalli beat David Campbell and Lucca Barlocchi 8-5.

A.J. Kerin and Taylor Leiby defeated Andrew Giuffrida and Bryan Miller 8-6.

In singles matches at the No. 6 spot, Siddharth Alapati defeated Guiffrida 6-2, 6-2.

At the No. 5 spot, freshman Martin Nilsson defeated David Campbell 6-4, 6-2 and put the Bulldogs up 3-0.

Siwy, at the No. 1 spot, defeated Wronski 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the match for Fresno State.

At the No. 2 spot, Zapletal beat Barlocchi 6-1, 6-4 and Fafek defeated Miller 7-6, 7-5.

The Bulldogs are now 9-3 overall and haven’t lost at home this year.

The team will travel to Montgomery, Ala. on Thursday to compete in the Blue Gray Classic.

The Bulldogs’ next homestand will be a five-game homestand beginning against the TCU Horned Frogs on March 21.

Fresno State is currently ranked No. 45.
