The Collegian Staff Comment

I know dogs have done numerous things such as therapy work and the other things you've mentioned. Although I was particularly thinking in this case for sporting activities, of course dog sledding is one. It just didn't come to mind at the time. However, when it comes to Fresno State sports, I think equestrian is the only athletic team that involves working directly with an animal in a competition.

You are forgetting the huge number of purposes the dog has served humans in helping to get the job done: herding, rodent control, pulling a cart or sled, guarding, aiding the disabled, therapy work, etc. Many of these jobs are now also competitive events that the human/dog teams can participate in for sport.

Horses are cool, but dogs can do lots more cool stuff. :-)
