I believe it is time for something like this to be done. I've heard the horror stories some of these sstudents have by being overwhelmed by the credit card companies on campus grounds. Good work.

I like campuses having to disclose marketing agreements with banks and credit card companies because transparency is healthy for the institution and all in it. However, this notion of poor college students being preyed upon by predatory credit card companies is a joke. I'm going to go out and spend money I don't have on things I don't need because someone gave me a frisbee, and that makes me a victim? Try irresponsible.
Living beyond our means is not limited to college students. People across our society have run up more and more debt because they refuse to distinguish between what they need and what they want. It is the way small children think, not responsible adults. Our solution? Pass a law of course! Don't hold people accountable for their own actions. Tell them they are victims and restrict the freedoms of those around them. In other words reinforce the negative behavior that is the root of the problem.
Even scarier is the extent to which we as a society are turning to the government to solve all problems. People spending money they don't have? Pass a law. Kids are too fat? Make it illegal to put cartoon characters on fast food wrappers or in advertising. Everyone needs to wake up and understand that the government never cedes back to the people freedoms that it has taken away nor is it particularly good at solving the problems it is supposed to address.
