New schedule has ‘Dogs ready to defend WAC title

Fresno State’s soccer will compete in 20 matches in the 2007 season, including two exhibition games. Eight of the games will be held at home. Of the home games, three will be WAC competitions as the Bulldogs attempt to defend their 2006 WAC title.

Fresno State’s first exhibition will be in town at Fresno Pacific. The ’Dogs will host Cal Poly on Aug. 25, but their first true game of the season will be at home against UC Irvine on Aug. 31.

After the home opener Fresno State will be on the road for six games, playing UC Davis and Sacramento State.

Continuing their road journey, the Bulldogs will take on non-conference competitors Northern Colorado and Wyoming; then back in California the ’Dogs will face Loyola Marymount and UC Riverside.

Home at last, Fresno State will host non-conference teams UTEP, CS Fullerton and San Francisco before resuming WAC play against San Jose. The Bulldogs will also host WAC teams LA Tech and Utah State.

In its final home game, Fresno State aims to take out Cal State Bakersfield before hitting the road for Reno and the postseason.
