Parts of Lot V to be closed Monday
Part of parking Lot V, located on Woodrow Avenue between Shaw and Matoian, will be closed Monday to begin work on parking shelters.
The parking shelters, similar to carports, will support solar panels that will produce more than one megawatt of power. One megawatt would power about 1,000 homes and will meet 25 percent of Fresno State’s electricity demands.
The parking shelters will cover more than 700 spaces in Lot V.
The $10 million photovoltaic project is a collaborative effort between the campus and Chevron Energy Solutions.
Parts of the lot will be unavailable until construction is completed late this summer.
